also let you start on the right track and avoid creating bad habits that then have to be worked out later on On July 4 2017 Dans new club and latest passion Eagles Nest Sporting Grounds opened near Mount Gilead It has a 15 station sporting clays course 5 stand and three FITASC practice parcours We encourage visitors to come take a tour and shoot a round or two with us Dan invited Eagles Nest also hosts monthly registered sporting clays and or FITASC tournaments that are open to the public Owning my own club enables me to express my interests in the clay shooting sports by allowing me to create my own vision of what a shooting facility should showcase Dan explained One of the ways he expresses that vision is through the creative art of target setting He also wanted to create a quality training facility for the competitive shooter as well as encourage new shooters to give clay shooting a try Dan delights in teaching and coaching others My favorite thing about teaching is seeing a student light up when they begin to understand he said There are a lot of good shooters in Ohio young and old and Id like to help them become great shooters Dan believes the future of the shooting sports is bright and prosperous saying I hope to be a part of this growing community by continuing to introduce seasoned and new shooters alike to the joys of FITASC into the second day all my confidence had returned and I posted a score of 191 200 Then I just waited on the last few remaining scores to be posted Lo and behold my score held up and I was named 2018 National FITASC Champion Dan says hes never taken a lesson nor had a coach or a mentor Ive learned the hard way he lamented battling DECEMBER 2018 CLAY TARGET NATION 19 through the ups and downs and learning from my own mistakes as I go Its not something Id recommend to someone wanting to be competitive within the sport Having a coach or mentor will not only push your ability much faster but it will new shooting facility here in Ohio things have been very busy and practice seems to be a daily challenge Dan would often try to squeeze in practice sessions very early or very late in the day Before attending the Regional and National FITASC Championships I made it a priority to get in some practice on my clubs FITASC training fields he said I have to admit going into the tournament I wasnt feeling that confident Dan acknowledged However once I got through the first two parcours on the first day I told myself to just work a little harder and keep grinding By the end of the first day I had run over 80 targets finishing out my first 100 targets excellently Going p Dan shot a 191x200 to win the 2018 National FITASC Championship held in conjunction with the South Central Regional
