FROM THE NSSA NSCA COMPILED BY NSSA NSCA STAFF MEMBER COMMUNICATIONS IN THE KNOW ABOUT REGISTERED SHOOTS M uch of this issue consists of registered shoot lists for both NSSA and NSCA To make the schedule for this issue we had to give clubs a deadline of November 30 2018 to renew their membership and register their shoots Most clubs made the deadline but if yours didnt thats why you wont find the shoots listed While we trust that publishing the full tournament lists each February is popular with our members this isnt the only means you have of knowing about shoots In addition to the print issue in your hands we make these places available for you to learn about registered events for NSSA and NSCA u Digital issue Dont want to keep up with the print edition Go to ClayTargetNation com open the February 2019 issue and youll find the lists Bonus Youll also find live links to advertised events and every other URL in the magazine u Monthly emails Around the 16th of every month we send emails to NSSA and NSCA members separate ones for each discipline with scores from the previous month and a list of every registered shoot for that month and the next two i e on February 16 your list will be for February March and April and the scores will be for January These are set up like magazine pages so theyre easily printed if you wish If you arent receiving the email or youre shooting both disciplines through our Crossfire program you can sign up for it at these links Skeet bit ly NSSA Shoots Sporting Clays bit ly NSCA Shoots Feel free to share those links with non members as well u MyNSSA com and MyNSCA com Our websites have search tools that allow you to search for events by state club date or a combination of parameters Youll also find pages for major shoots on each disciplines site Just go to the EVENTS tab to find the search tool and major events pages Also on MyNSSA com and MyNSCA com youll find lists like the monthly emails Just look on the home pages for the NSSA Shoot Register and NSCA Shoot Register images 8 WWW NSSA NSCA ORG FEBRUARY 2019 u Major shoots in CTN Each month in Clay Target Nation we publish lists of major shoots for three months For NSSA those come from the Top 100 Shoots list For NSCA the list includes Big Blasts Mega Blasts Regionals and national world events U S Open National Championship and U S hosted World English and World FITASC events u Target Talk While we dont publish lists of shoots in our weekly Target Talk newsletter many clubs do advertise their events there Look at the sidebar ads and the Upcoming Shoots advertising section at the bottom You can click on any ad to reach shoot details or registration Never shot a registered tournament and dont even know how to go about it We were thinking of you when we assigned an article for this issue My First NSSA Tournament Experienced shotgunner but new to tournament shooting Bill Miller got the assignment as we know him to be an outdoorsman who doesnt leave details to chance Plus hes one of the best writers we know He did a similar article on shooting his first sporting clays tournament in the November 2018 issue bit ly CTN 1118 78 Dont miss it Not only does Bill walk our members through the processes he followed for both shoots and take out the mystery and intimidation factors that might be keeping you out of competition but he also taught us a thing or two we could do better In this months article Bill makes a good point that clubs should also learn from if all clubs had a good online presence more people would come to their shoots A website can be simple and inexpensive to build and maintain and a Facebook page is free Even if yours is a small memberowned club Id be willing to bet someone from the club could handle those basic chores or has a family member who could Consider Bills advice when you read the article Youre welcome to reach out to me anytime Im at CTN@ nssa nsca com Sherry Kerr Director of Communications SEND US YOUR EVENT COVERAGE Email your shoot wrapups and high res photos to ctn@ nssa nsca com
