NSCA EVENT COVERAGE North Central Regional Claythorne Lodge Columbus Kansas I f youve ever driven across Kansas on I 70 and thought it would be best to keep driving because theres nothing worth slowing down for youve really missed out by not taking a detour to stop at the Claythorne Lodge The Claythorne Lodge in the Southeast corner of Kansas may be one of the most picturesque pieces of land in the state as its rolling hills of green are only interrupted with towering trees and numerous ponds The grounds served as the perfect spot for the North Central Regional the second regional stop of 2019 With the rain holding off for the most part the clouds provided shade that delivered temperatures in the 70s providing the perfect environment for competitors and spectators alike to enjoy some spirited competition as well as some great evening activities The highlight of the evening activities had to be a spectacular fireworks show set to music on Saturday night Neil Chadwick and Brian Tanner led a team of target setters 48 WWW NSSA NSCA ORG AUGUST 2019 that delivered everything from towering chandelles to targets that dove down hugging the waters edge Throughout the day shooters could be heard describing the targets as everything from shootable to challenging with plenty of the still trying to figure out why I missed that one comments that usually means the target setters have done their job well KOLAR SPORTING MAIN EVENT The 200 target Kolar Main Event was held over Saturday and Sunday on two separate courses Red and Blue Both courses saw stations that snaked in and out of the trees some shot over one of the many Claythorne ponds others over green fields of tall grass Day one saw the three leaders Zach Kienbaum Kevin DeMichiel and Gregg Wolf emerge from the Blue course all posting impressive 98s The Ladys competition flipped the coin the three leaders all emerged from the Red course with Janet McDougall leading with a 92 followed closely by Annabelle Ayres 91 and Meagan Harrington 90 Joseph Fanizzi led the Sub Juniors with a 94 on the Blue course while the June 12 16 2019 BY DALTON KIRCHHOEFER
