Tournament Etiquette Guide For The New Shooter New to skeet There are several things you need to know but most of them boil down to one key word Time BY THE RULES AND CLASSIFICATION COMMITTEE A s a new shooter it is sometimes difficult to transition from shooting practice at the local club to venturing into competitive skeet While skeet is sometimes considered to be a social sport remember that during competition skeet etiquette is very important And if only one word could be identified to help a new shooter to the world of registered skeet that word would be time Why you ask does time matter Let us investigate that concept from the minute you decide to shoot in a registered skeet event First you must take the time to determine which shoot youll go to who you are squadding with is it local or do you need to take the time to plan travel hotel etc Then you need to sign up for the event Most medium and large shoots are pre registered so you must know the right time to send in a deposit along with a registration form Make sure you take the time to download your classification card and review the shoot program so you understand what options are available If you dont know what the options are or what you should do you could ask other registered shooters at your club or use the MyNSSA com website which provides information about registered shoots and options within those shoots While all the preparation takes time once you get to the shoot the essence of time evolves from taking time to prepare to being on time for every part of the registered events Time really starts to matter immediately when you get to a registered shoot First make sure you get to registration early Quite often there is a line and you should allow plenty of time to get your registration form and if required fill it out pay for the event and get your field assignments Nothing is worse than the shooter who shows up at the last minute and then 30 WWW NSSA NSCA ORG JANUARY 2021
